      OVERVIEW

      The Safety Supervisor is responsible for supporting the safety and health processes within the local organization. The safety supervisor will assist the safety manager in leading the safety and health efforts within the plant, by supporting the implementation and evaluation of critical safety processes, programs, and procedures to achieve goals, objectives, and continuous improvement related to compliance and injury reduction.

      DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Monitor and maintain compliance with federal & state OSHA requirements and applicable consensus standards.
      • Provide relevant content and subject matter expertise to support: required safety-related training; effective implementation of safety programs; and prevention of accidents
      • Support plant safety goals through implementation of safe work practices, and coaching of employees and supervisors in safe practices.
      • Work in a team environment where responsibility for injury/illness prevention, compliance assurance, safety auditing, incident investigation, and employee training are shared between the leadership team and the safety supervisor.
      • Work with the management team and employees to instill a genuine culture of safety awareness and personal responsibility for safe behaviors and work practices across the organization.
      • Assist with employee engagement efforts, including oversight of safety committees, and implementation and support of the company’s behavioral assessment process.
      • Serve as an active member of the Corporate Safety Network Committee. Occasionally travel to other company locations as a member of an assessment team or to serve as a subject matter expert regarding resolution of a particular issue.
      • Provide direct support to employees within the manufacturing environment, with the ability to perform work activities in a variety of industrial and manufacturing settings/environments, requiring activities such as, but not limited to: climbing ladders and stairs; working occasionally in a hot environment; and wearing advanced PPE such as fall protection and respirators.
      • Assist with workers compensation management and the return to work program.

      WORK EXPERIENCES

      • One to three years of occupational safety and health experience in industrial operations recommended.
      • Knowledgeable of federal, state (California) and local regulations as well as relevant consensus standards (e.g., ANSI, NFPA).
      • List any preferred experiences or qualifications.

      EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

      • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field from an accredited university or college.
      • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

      SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

      • This position does not supervise others.

      ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)

      • Knowledge of Behavioral Safety Auditing techniques.
      • Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis education or experience.
      • Ability to coach and train employees.
      • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
      • Strong organization skills, including attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and prioritize projects.
      • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to resolve conflict and reach agreement with others.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.
      • Willingness to relocate in the future.

      PAY RANGE:

      • $67,000 to $124,000
      • The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.
